Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, H.E. Naji Mohammed Issa, met on Wednesday, at the UK Foreign Office in London, with the Ministry\u2019s Chief Economic Adviser, Professor Deniz Igan, in the presence of the Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department and his team, and with the participation of the Governor\u2019s accompanying delegation.
The meeting addressed key economic and financial developments in Libya, macroeconomic updates, and current challenges, alongside an exchange of views on various economic and financial issues of mutual interest.
The Governor also outlined the Central Bank of Libya\u2019s efforts to develop the banking sector and enhance its efficiency, promote financial inclusion, ensure monetary and financial stability, and bolster the resilience of the national economy in the face of local and international challenges and variables.
Discussions also covered the Central Bank of Libya\u2019s efforts to unify public spending, enhance anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing (AML\/CFT) measures, strengthen compliance, governance, and oversight systems within the banking sector, and foster cooperation with relevant national and international bodies. These efforts aim to enhance the integrity and transparency of Libya\u2019s financial and banking system and align it with relevant international standards and practices.
Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation and exchanging expertise and insights across economic, financial, and banking sectors, as well as leveraging international experience to support reform and development programs.
