The Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, H.E. Naji Issa, received today, Tuesday, 7 July 2026, at his office in Tripoli, Mr. Massad Boulos, Advisor to the U.S. President, Mr. Kyle Liston, Assistant Deputy Secretary of State, and Mr. Jeremy Brent, Charg\u00e9 d\u2019Affaires of the United States Embassy in Libya. The meeting was attended by Mr. Khaled Shakshak, President of the Libyan Audit Bureau, and Mr. Massoud Suleiman, Chairman of the National Oil Corporation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting discussed the latest economic and financial developments in Libya, as well as ways to support economic stability and strengthen institutional performance in a manner that serves the interests of the Libyan people and preserves the sustainability of national resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The participants reaffirmed their full support for the independence of the Central Bank of Libya, its Governor, and Libya\u2019s sovereign institutions, emphasizing that the independence of the Central Bank represents a fundamental pillar for safeguarding monetary and financial stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They also expressed their support for the Unified Budget Agreement, stressing the importance of all parties\u2019 commitment to its implementation and full compliance with its provisions. This, they noted, would enhance fiscal discipline, promote the principles of transparency and efficiency in public expenditure management, and unify efforts aimed at achieving economic stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The U.S. side, the Central Bank of Libya, and the Libyan Audit Bureau reiterated their steadfast support for the National Oil Corporation, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the stability and sustainability of Libya\u2019s oil production, as it represents a key pillar of the national economy and a strategic resource that directly contributes to the country\u2019s stability and prosperity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The participants further reaffirmed their support for the Libyan Audit Bureau and expressed appreciation for its vital role in strengthening transparency, accountability, and good governance, safeguarding public funds, and enhancing confidence in state institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
