Governor of the Central Bank of Libya Meets with the Turkish Minister of Trade
Mr. Governor Naji Mohammed Issa received Mr. Ömer Bolat and his accompanying delegation at his office in Tripoli on Wednesday, April 30th, 2025, joint by directors of the relevant departments from the Central Bank of Libya .
Mr. Bolat, the Turkish Minister of Trade, commenced his visit to Libya with a meeting with the Governor and a visit to the Central Bank of Libya, aimed at strengthening cooperation and trade exchange between the two countries.
During an extensive meeting, several joint issues were discussed, foremost among them the resolution of difficulties faced by Libyan banks and Turkish companies due to the unsettled letters of guarantee dating back to 2011. The meeting also explored ways for leading Turkish companies in the field of construction to contribute to development and reconstruction projects in Libya.
Furthermore, new prospects were discussed for other vital sectors, in line with the Central Bank of Libya's vision to diversify the economy and broaden sources of income. Key sectors include industry, agriculture, tourism, and natural minerals. In return, efforts will be made to ease challenges for Libyan companies and encourage them to increase Libyan exports to Turkey.
