A phone call between Governor of the Central Bank of Libya and the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Acting Head of the Mission in Libya.

Monitoring the work of the Central Bank amidst threats and pressures facing the bank, its employees, its systems, and its international relations was the main topic discussed during the phone call between H.E. Mr. Saddek Omar ElKaber, Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, and Ms. Stephanie Khoury, Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Acting Head of the Mission in Libya, late on Monday, 19th of August, 2024. Ms. Khoury expressed the United Nations’ full support for the Central Bank of Libya and its continued role in maintaining financial and economic stability and preserving the country’s resources. She also welcomed the support of the House of Representatives and the High Council of State for the Central Bank and their rejection of unilateral measures taken by the Presidential Council that fall outside its jurisdiction.
