H.E Mr. Saddek Omar ElKaber, Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, and Dr. Khaled Al-Mabrouk, Minister of Finance met with Ms. Kristalina Georgieva, the Managing Director of the IMF, central bank governors, finance ministers from North Africa, the Middle East, and the Levant, besides heads and directors of Arab financial institutions within the MENAP group at IMF Washington on Wednesday, 17th of April 2024, the meeting addressed the prospects of the global economy, the slowdown in growth rates, the situation in the U.S. economy with persistently high U.S. interest rates, and their impact on investment stimulation and attraction and concerns of low-income countries in the region regarding the repercussions of global growth weakness, the effects of climate change on the global economy, and reviewing the experiences of regional countries and the lessons learned from dealing with financial crises and structural reforms adopted by some nations.
