Governor of the Central Bank of Libya opens the Electronic Payment Forum and Exhibition and announces a package of banking reforms

H.E. Mr. Naji Mohammed Issa, Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, officially opened the first edition of the Electronic Payment Forum and Exhibition, held at the Tripoli International Fairgrounds. The event is organized by the General Authority for Exhibitions and Conferences, with wide participation from commercial banks and electronic payment companies On Sunday, June 15, 2025.

In his opening speech, the Governor emphasized that hosting this event reflects the Central Bank of Libya’s commitment to advancing digital transformation and expanding financial inclusion. He underlined the importance of developing the digital infrastructure of the banking sector and keeping pace with the latest technologies in the field of electronic payments.

The Governor also announced the launch of a package of projects and initiatives aimed at introducing banking reforms designed to improve financial services, streamline payment and transfer procedures, and enhance oversight of payment systems. He stressed the importance of supporting innovation in financial solutions and expanding the use of digital wallets and point-of-sale (POS) systems.

Following the opening ceremony, the Governor toured the exhibition halls accompanied by Eng. Essam Al-Aoul, Head of the General Authority for Exhibitions and Conferences. They viewed the latest technologies on display in the field of electronic payments and digital banking services and listened to presentations from company and institution representatives about the solutions and services they offer.

The exhibition and forum will continue until June 17, featuring three days of panel discussions and specialized workshops, with the participation of experts, academics, and representatives of major national financial institutions, as well as technical presentations by Libyan companies operating in the field of financial solutions and electronic payments.
