Central Bank of Libya represents Libya in the twenty-fourth meeting of the financial action task force of the middle east and north Africa organization

The media office of Central Bank of Libya under the role of following the international activities of CBL, connected with the director of the financial information unit , head of the delegation participated in the twenty-fourth meeting of the financial action task of the middle east and north Africa organization .
The term number 12 of the agenda of this meeting displayed the latest developments in the countries that have deficiencies regarding the technical commitment to the fifth and sixth recommendations concerning combating the financing of terrorism as Libya and Oman were mention between these countries , concerning the lack of law that fights against terrorism and its financing.
Head of the Libyan delegation responded to this point in his speech saying: ” we are ready and prepared according to the international standards ,in particular the draft has been prepared under the auspices of an expert from the international monetary fund , but the political conditions that we all know is the reason of the delay of this law .
In addition these circumstances will not stop the governor of the Central Bank of Libya Mr.Saddek Omar Elkaber and head of the national committee of money laundering in responding to this deficiency, he issued three publications procedured directly related to the suppression of the financing of terrorism.
The publications are :-
- publication No.1 of year 2016, concerning money laundering and terrorism financing policies and the due diligence of clients.
- publication No.2 of year 2016, concerning the implementations of the resolution No.36 of year 2009, issued by the board of directors of the Central Bank of Libya concerning the regulations of opening bank accounts in commercial banks.
- publication No.3 of year 2016, concerning regulations of opening accounts for organizations and institutions that are non-profit.
