Governor of the Central Bank of Libya Receives the “Governor of the Year 2026” Award from the Union of Arab Banks.

In a distinguished event held under the honorary patronage of French President Emmanuel Macron, the European–Arab Banking and Economic Summit convened this Wednesday in Paris, bringing together a distinguished group of financial and banking leaders from across the Arab region and the international community. During the summit, the Union of Arab Banks announced the selection of H.E. Naji Mohammed Issa, Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, as the recipient of the “Governor of the Year 2026” Award, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to supporting and developing the financial and banking sector under exceptional circumstances, as well as his efforts to strengthen Arab and international economic cooperation.

This prestigious recognition represents a clear acknowledgment of the strategic achievements realized by the Central Bank of Libya under the leadership of the Governor and its Board of Directors, despite the significant challenges and risks facing the country. Through prudent and forward-looking policies, the Bank has successfully preserved the stability of Libya’s financial system, safeguarded the nation’s resources, and ensured the continuity of banking operations amid the numerous challenges confronting the national economy.

On this occasion, the Governor expressed his profound pride and appreciation for receiving the award, describing it as a tribute to every employee of the Central Bank of Libya and all staff members of the commercial banks operating in Libya, whose dedication and support have been instrumental in achieving these accomplishments. He also reaffirmed his commitment to continuing the path of diligent work to further strengthen stability and development within the Libyan banking sector and to enhance Libya’s standing at both the regional and international levels.
