H.E Mr. Saddek Omar ElKaber, the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, met with Mr. Richard Norland, the U.S. Special Envoy to Libya, and Mr. Jeremy Berndt, the Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy on tuesday 5th of march,2024. The meeting covered several important topics, including efforts in collaboration with the parliamentary financial committee and other state institutions to prepare a unified budget law for the year 2024. Additionally, they reviewed the central bank unification efforts, the reasons behind the appreciation of hard currency in the parallel market, and the transparency and disclosure project adopted by the Central Bank of Libya. Furthermore, they discussed the crucial measures the central bank will take to safeguard the country’s financial sustainability and enhance the value of the Libyan dinar.
