On Monday, 1st,of April, 2024, the Individual Foreign Currency Booking Platform” (FCMS.CBL.GOV.LY) experienced a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) cyber attack.
This attack impacted the system’s accessibility, However, the Central Bank of Libya’s team successfully mitigated the attack by blocking access to any network address registered outside the Libyan territory
Since the attack was thwarted, the platform has been operating normally.
On Monday alone, more than 17,900 booking transactions were completed, totaling $68 million in U.S. dollars Additionally, 17,200 booking transactions were successfully processed on Tuesday, 2nd of April, 2024, amounting to $65 million in U.S. dollars.
In the same context, the official website of the Central Bank of Libya is currently facing a similar type of attack Our team is actively countering this threat and working to address any potential future breaches
