H.E. Naji Mohammed Issa, Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, along with his accompanying delegation, participated in the high-level meeting of the African Caucus at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), attended by Ms. Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the IMF, and the governors of central banks from across the African continent. The meeting took place at the IMF headquarters in Washington, D.C., on October 14, 2025.

The discussions focused on the current economic conditions and the future outlook of the African continent, with the aim of outlining a forward-looking path for the region. Participants highlighted that the global economic environment remains fraught with challenges, as growth is expected to slow this year amid ongoing political uncertainty and rising geopolitical tensions. Inflationary pressures and tight global financial conditions continue to weigh on fiscal situations and financial dynamics in many African economies, while climate-related shocks further exacerbate the challenges facing the continent.
