Governor of the Central Bank of Libya discusses reducing fees imposed on the use of bank cards at POS
H.E Naji Mohammed Issa, Governor of the Central Bank of Libya met with officials from Moamalat Financial Services, as part of the Central Bank of Libya's plan to enhance electronic services، in the presence of relevant directors from CBL on Tuesday, 19th of November , 2024.
During the meeting, the discussion focused on reducing fees imposed on the use of bank cards at POS. It was decided to reduce fees for the health, pharmaceutical, and food sectors by 73%, bringing them down from 3.75% to 1%. For other sectors, the fees were reduced by 60%, decreasing from 3.75% to 1.5%.
The meeting also agreed to simplify the process of granting POS to individuals engaged in commercial and service activities, as well as self-employed professionals. Additionally, it was decided to provide the instant payment service free of charge, contributing to the promotion of financial inclusion.
The commission rates will be periodically reviewed and re-evaluated to explore the possibility of further reductions in the future.
