Governor of the Central Bank of Libya meets with the President of the Libyan Audit Bureau

As part of efforts to establish a framework for cooperation between the Central Bank of Libya and the Libyan Audit Bureau two institutions of vital importance in implementing and monitoring public expenditure as well as overseeing the financial and economic situation H.E. Mr. Naji Mohammed Issa, Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, held a meeting with Mr. Khaled Ahmed Shakshak, President of the Libyan Audit Bureau. The meeting was attended by several specialized departments from both sides on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

Discussions focused on a range of joint topics, most notably the overall financial situation of the state, the auditing of the Central Bank’s budgets and their approval by the technical committees assigned by the Audit Bureau, and the need to provide all necessary support to these committees. The two sides also emphasized the importance of accelerating the review process to complete the audit and approval of the final accounts for the years 2017 through 2024.

In addition, the meeting addressed oversight of the banking sector and the mechanism for the operation of audit firms assigned by the general assemblies to review and approve the financial statements of commercial banks. The parties stressed the importance of selecting firms with high levels of expertise and professionalism to ensure the proper approval of budgets.
