Governor of the Central Bank of Libya met with the Ambassador of the US Special Envoy and Chargé d’Affairs at the US Embassy in Libya.

H.E Mr. Saddek Omar ElKaber, the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, met with Mr. Richard Norland, the U.S. Special Envoy to Libya, and Mr. Jeremy Berndt, the Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy on tuesday 5th of march,2024. The meeting covered several important topics, including efforts in collaboration with the parliamentary financial committee and other state institutions to prepare a unified budget law for the year 2024. Additionally, they reviewed the central bank unification efforts, the reasons behind the appreciation of hard currency in the parallel market, and the transparency and disclosure project adopted by the Central Bank of Libya. Furthermore, they discussed the crucial measures the central bank will take to safeguard the country’s financial sustainability and enhance the value of the Libyan dinar.

Governor of the Central Bank of Libya met with the Ambassador of South Korea to Libya.

H.E Mr. Saddek Omar ElKaber, the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, met with Mr. Jang Jehak, the Ambassador of South Korea to Libya, on tuesday 5th of march,2024.The ambassador praised the cordial relations among two countries and discussed the role of Korean companies in development projects, particularly the maintenance of facilities related to the Great Man-Made River Project. They also addressed some of the challenges faced by Korean companies and their efforts to increase exports to Libya. The ambassador expressed his desire for the embassy to resume operations in Tripoli.

Governor of the Central Bank of Libya met with the Chargé d’Affaires of the Republic of Iraq Embassy to Libya.

H.E Mr. Saddek Omar ElKaber, the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, met with Dr. Ahmed Al-Sahaf, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Republic of Iraq Embassy to Libya on Monday, 4th of march,2024. During the meeting, Dr. Al-Sahaf affirmed his country’s desire to enhance cooperation in the banking sector, benefiting both the Central Bank of Libya and the Central Bank of Iraq. They also discussed the possibility of mutual visits between the two financial institution.

Governor of the Central Bank of Libya met with the Chargé d’Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Embassy to Libya.

H.E Mr. Saddek Omar ElKaber, Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, met with Mr. Ahmed bin Abdullah Al-Shehri, Chargé d’Affaires of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Embassy to Libya, on Monday, 4th of march,2024. The meeting touched on discussing economic and financial matters, the general situation in the region. additionally, they explored the prospects for economic cooperation among two countries.

H.E Mr. Saddek Omar ElKaber, the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, met with Ms.Isabelle Savard,the Ambassador of Canada to Libya in monday 4th of march,2024. The meeting addressed the latest developments regarding the unification of the Central Bank of Libya and Canada’s readiness to provide the necessary support for enhancing the capabilities of the Central Bank’s staff and the banking sector in Libya.

Governor of the Central Bank of Libya met with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Netherlands to Libya.

H.E Mr. Saddek Omar ElKaber, the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, met with Mr. Joost Klarenbeek, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Netherlands in monday 4th of march,2024, The meeting covered several important topics, including the unification of the Central Bank of Libya and the potential support for enhancing the capabilities of central bank employees in the areas of banking supervision and digital transformation. Additionally, the Netherlands expressed readiness to assist with addressing the rising groundwater levels in Zliten and facilitating the return of Dutch companies to resume their operations in Libya.

The third meeting of the Central Bank of Libya Unification Committee

Headed by the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, H.E Mr. Saddek Omar ElKaber, the committee formed to complete the procedures for unifying the Central Bank of Libya held its third meeting in Sunday, January 7th, 2024, in attandance of the directors of the relevant departments from CBL, Tripoli and Benghazi, in furtherance of the unification project, which culminated in the unification of the two departments Research and Statistics and the Financial Information Unit, after completing the process of unifying the Banking and Monetary Supervision Departments. The committee’s work roadmap for the year 2024 was also approved.

H.E Mr. Saddek Omar ElKaber, Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, meets with Nicola Orlando, the Ambassador of European Union to Libya in Sunday, January 7th, 2024, in attendance of the Economic Advisor at the Embassy, Lilian Anjo they discussed the developments in the unification of the Central Bank of Libya and support for the Central Bank’s efforts to strengthen Transparency, disclosure, strengthening the efforts of international institutions to assist in the reconstruction of Derna and its surroundings, and the readiness of the European Union to cooperate in developing the private sector.

Governor of the Central Bank of Libya met with representatives of Derna in the High Council of State

H.E Mr. Saddek Omar Elkaber, Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, met in his office on Tuesday, 12/19/2023, representatives of Derna’ City in the High Council of the State. The meeting covered several topics such as: the conditions of the city’s citizens after the flood disaster, and how to overcome the consequences. At the end of the meeting,the Governor has briefed the members on the latest developments in communication with the World Bank to complete the damage assessment process and emphasized the necessity of good and constructive communication with all parties for the success of the reconstruction project.
