The Governor of the Central Bank of Libya held a meeting at his office last Sunday 16th of July 2017 with the minister of finance and the minister of planning commissioned by the national accord government and Chair man of the national oil corporation ,they discussed ways to support the national oil corporation and how to overcome the difficulties faced by the institution and try to solve them.
According to the efforts done to alleviate the demand for foreign currency based on the statement published by The Central Bank of Libya concerning the sale of foreign currency to citizens through commercial banks by the official rate of the day as 400 US$ is the FX amount for each member .
In implementation of the direct instructions of the Central Bank to the commercial banks and their branches to proceed with the implementation of the statement, The Central Bank continues depositing funds to all banks that began accepting requests from head of Households, through the foreign exchange system for individuals launched by the Central Bank of Libya starting from the 12th of February 2017.
The following is a table showing : Number of transactions , Amount in Dollars and the amount in Libyan Dinars in each bank until the 5th of June 2017 , The Amount of Total Foreign Currency sold to Head of Households until now Reserved amounts of foreign currency for all banks that have worked on the system
The Issuance department of the Central Bank of Libya in Misrata received a currency shipment estimated to be 50 Million Libyan Dinars , to be distributed to commercial banks.
This shipment was sent by the Central Bank of Libya for the sake of providing liquidity to all commercial banks and branches to enable citizens to get their needs and alleviate their suffering during the holy month of Ramadan.
The Central Bank of Libya sent a currency shipment to Sabha city on Wednesday morning 31st of May , to be contributed around the commercial banks and it’s Branches in the south in order to relieve the suffering of citizens for their need of cash in this holy month .
Mr.Saddek Omar Elkaber , Governor of the Central Bank of Libya meets with Mr.Jan marry Jino , Head of the UN Global Crisis Group (Support Mission in Libya) on Thursday morning 25th of May 2017 at his office in Tripoli.
The discussion in the meeting was around the effects of the economic and financial problems that Libya is going through and assured the importance of cooperation and should work more to avoid those effects by finding practical solutions for the economic and financial problems in which will alleviate the daily suffering of citizens.
The Central Bank of Libya receives a new currency shipment on Thursday morning 25th of May 2017 ,estimated to be (( 300 Million Libyan Dinars)) which arrived from Britain at the international airport of Matiga.
The Central Bank of Libya will distribute this shipment that arrived at the same time of this Holy month of Ramadan around commercial banks and branches all over the country , in order to relieve the suffering of citizens for their need of cash in this holy month.
Mr.Saddek Omar Elkaber , Governor of the Central Bank of Libya meets Mr. Peter Millet , the British ambassador in Libya at his office in Tripoli on Wednesday morning 24th of May .
They discussed during the meeting the importance of cooperation to find solutions for the economic and financial problems facing the country and the efforts and support provided by the United Kingdom to overcome the current financial and economic crisis.
