Governor of The Central Bank of Libya gets an award from The Arab Bankers Association

The Arab Banking association in London, decided to award the annual award for outstanding contributions in the Arab Banking sector this year to Mr. Saddek Omar Elkaber, Head of the Board of Directors of ABC Bank and Governor of the Central Bank of Libya. Mr. George Kanaan, CEO of the Arab Bankers Association said “we are pleased to award Mr. Saddek Omar Elkaber for his outstanding contributions in developing the Arab Banking sector, we award him for his leadership in ABC bank that maintained its lead among the most sophisticated Arab Banks, but also for his leadership in the Central Bank of Libya , the institution that continued to perform its functions in spite of the political conditions that Libya has been through in the recent years.” The outstanding contribution award was presented to Mr. Saddek Omar Elkaber during the annual ceremony of the Arab Bankers Association, which was held in London on the 27th of October 2016. Mr. Saddek Omar Elkaber said: “It is such a pleasure to accept this prestigious award from the Association of the Arab Bankers, I would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation and praise for the members of the Board of Directors in ABC bank, who have worked over the past years to improve our operations and strengthen internal controls and launch the new trademark for the bank, I also want to express my thanks to the Board of Directors and employees of the Central Bank of Libya for their extraordinary commitment to their country and to the Central Bank of Libya, through the very difficult times.” Mr. Saddek Omar Elkaber has been appointed as Head of the Board of Directors of ABC Bank on 2011, previously he was the executive vice manager of ABC in the United Kingdom. He was also assigned as the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya in 2011, before that he had various positions in ABC Bank. During the period between 1988 and 1998 he was Head of the Board of Directors and General Manager of El Uma Bank. %d8%aa%d9%83%d8%b1%d9%8a%d9%85-%d8%a7%d9%84%d9%85%d8%ad%d8%a7%d9%81%d8%b8      

The Central Bank of Libya started working electronically on the new Automated Clearing House of Instruments system: The instruments will be registered in the Automated Clearing House system at the same moment or at maximum the same day for all branches connected to the system.

%d8%aa%d8%b5%d9%85%d9%8a%d9%85-%d8%a7%d9%84%d9%85%d9%82%d8%a7%d8%b5%d8%a9-%d8%a7%d9%84%d8%b5%d9%83%d9%88%d9%83   The Central Bank of Libya began working on the developed system of Automated Clearing House of Instruments on Monday morning the 24th of October 2016 as part of the plan put to develop the national payment system. This developed system allows the instrument to be registered in an hour or at maximum during the same day, in all commercial banks and their branches which are connected to the system provided by (Progress Soft Company). This project was launched in September 2015 and started effectively working in 2016. This project faced many difficulties due to the current circumstances in the country. The Central Bank of Libya and a number of commercial banks in Libya selected the system of Automated Clearing House of Instruments to combine with their central banking systems in which facilitates the Automated clearing house cycle, that is faster, more secure, automated and efficient. The Libyan Banks and their branches will benefit from many advantages by using this system, the most important advantage of operational risk will be reduced and the process of exchanging instruments will be more secure by allowing follow-up and tracking of the exchange of instruments between the banks participating in the system. In addition this system applies the latest security policies, saving time and effort by centralizing the processing between banks connected to the system. Also, this electronic system provides reports and statistics to facilitate the review and audit of all operations of bank branches by the Central Bank of Libya. The implementation of the electronic clearing system of instruments will help the banks in Libya to finalize the role of clearing instruments faster and contribute to the acceleration of the cash in circulation and positively affect the national gross of Libya.  

The Central Bank of Libya released important financial indicators of the second quarter of year 2016 concerning the commercial banks in Libya.

The Central Bank of Libya has published the second quarter of the Economic Bulletin for year 2016.

The Central Bank of Libya sends a shipment of currency to Sabha

The Issuance department of the Central Bank of Libya sent a shipment of currency to the Central Bank ,branch of Sabha on Wednesday evening 17th of October 2016 to distribute it to all commercial banks in the south. The Central Bank of Libya sent a shipment of currency to the commercial banks in Tripoli and the cities beyond besides work is underway to send a financial shipment to the eastern region as well as Nafusa mountains and the western region. The Central Bank of Libya received a shipment of currency last Tuesday which arrived by air from Britain , which estimated to be 400 million Dinars .
